Never Feed a Snake

All aspiring pundits please take note.

To be a social or political seer, you have to be able to connect the dots. So where do you find the dots?

Everywhere. Friday morning, there were two of them right on the front page of the New York Times.

First, there’s the recall on frozen mice.

Some 400,000 people have gotten sick from salmonella carried by frozen mouse meat sold as food for reptiles and other pets.

Not surprisingly, most of the victims were snake fanciers.

Second, two disgusting billionaires were charged with securities frauds that cheated other people out of $581 million.

Samuel and Charles Wyly of Dallas are best known for giving tons of money to right wing causes. Soon, they may be best known as jailbirds, which could severely clip their right wings.

Connect the dots:

Creationists, gay bashers, Obama bashers, birthers, media weasels, obstructionist senators, and other domestic reptiles may soon be scrambling to find other sources of money and the mother’s milk of mouse meat.

If you want to be a respected pundit, try not to mix metaphors and, above all, do not feed the snakes.
