Obama — Are You Listening?

Here’s Barb’s latest e-mail (her second) to the President on the subject of healthcare reform. If you want to send your own, here’s the url:

So. You’re making backroom deals with Big Pharma and you’re backing away from a public option.

Here are my predictions for the resulting health care “reform” bill:

* Realizing that they have been betrayed, you lose the support of 30% of your base outright, and another 10 to 15% during the ensuing months of attempted damage control (which does nothing but increase the sense of corruption and betrayal).

* Realizing that they are being mugged, hundreds of thousands will (noisily) boycott the health insurance “mandate”, creating an atmosphere of chaos and failure that will persist through the rest of your presidency.

* Elected Democrats, having lost trust and credibility, will in turn lose seats. That will start in 2010 and snowball in 2012.

Mr. Obama, the people can’t carry this obscene burden forever.

One way or another, healthcare will be pried from the grip of profiteers. When it finally happens, will you be the public face of our deliverance, or just another paid-off political hack who got in the way ?

  2. I’d better post something funny soon, or people are going to start asking you, “How is your daughter, The Dark One?”

  3. …. and I’ll say, “Oh, she’s just fine. She has a new witticism scheduled for third quarter of oh-11.”

Nobody can be funny about healthcare reform because sick humors aren’t covered by Medicare.
