Warren and Me
The difference between Warren Buffet and me (I know you’ve been wondering) is that at age eleven he read a book called A Hundred Ways to Make a Thousand Dollars. I read a book called A Thousand Ways to Make a Hundred Dollars.
In his fifties, Warren bought the Nebraska Furniture Mart for $60 million from Rose Blumkin — the same year I bought a living room couch with rose upholstery and lumpy bolsters.
Warren’s house in Omaha has five bedrooms while Prince Bandar’s has 60 and Bill Gates’s has six kitchens. In the financial meltdown last fall, they all lost billions. I lost hundreds, but outwitting them by such a wide margin hasn’t gone to my head. Both Warren and I answer our own telephones.
He must wonder how I do it.
