Principled Jimmying on Wiki
From an article on Jimmy Wales, co-founder of Wikipedia:
“His first wife, Pam, was quoted in a September 2008 W Magazine article saying that Wales, because he believed altruism was evil, discouraged her from pursuing a nursing degree when they were married.”
It goes on to report the dismantling of a subsequent marriage, then to quote a later girlfriend who says she didn’t find out Jimmy was splitting with her until she read it on Wikipedia.
And where is the article reporting all this?
On Wikipedia. Whatever you might think of Jimmy’s relationships, you have to admire the fact that nobody, not even the founder, has edited out his peccadillos.
Or not:
Wales and co-founder Larry Sanger have also busted up, and Sanger no longer shows up on Wiki as a co-founder.
And why would Wales think altruism is evil? Like Alan Greenspan and a few other idiot savants, he’s a follower of Ayn Rand, who preceded Gordon Gecko by several decades in proclaiming that Greed is Good — the corollary apparently being that Good is Bad.
Look it up.
