Why God Made ‘Delete’ Buttons

Our friend the Birdieman of Arizona disagrees with much of what we say here about politics, but he’s no lockstep conservative. Birdieman thinks for himself, and his latest thought via e-mail is a lulu:

*

Our “Address Book” contains maybe 45-50 folk to whom I would send or respond to an e-mail. These include people I see almost daily, family members known from forever, school and neighbor friends from Pennsylvania, Georgia, Texas, North Carolina, Florida, Nebraska, Connecticut, and California … probably others.

Since the last national election, I, who was aware that the Republicans couldn’t win the presidency even if the Dems nominated Obama (OR if the GOP nominated Abe and Ike) have begun receiving objectionable e-transmissions, mostly “this is not racist, but” … and you know the variety of anti-president stuff, much of which even Hannity or Un’Ruly might dodge.

Makes me wanna puke. The Red X is automatic. Accordingly, the list of 45-50 folks has shrunk to 25-30. Care to lower it?

  1. If everyone who objects to sliming did what Birdieman has done, the echo chamber of the intolerant minority would rapidly shrink and its internal stench would intensify. Who knows — some of them might have to come up for air.

  2. Birdieman’s a straight shooter. He has a principle and he knows how to use it.

In contrast, here’s Karl Rove with a principle. (The art form is aptly named “spinning”):
