Alternative Synergy?
This is an ignorant layman’s question, but I’m going to ask it anyway.
Every day now we’re shown photos and videos of wind farms – turbines on towers spread out across pasture and prairie lands, turning in the wind.
The question: Instead of pastures and prairies, why aren’t we seeing fields of solar collectors, with a narrow service road running between them to the wind turbines?
Wherever you have wind farms, you have to have electrical transmission lines to carry off the energy to the electrical grid and thence to its users. Why not an infrastructural two-fer, with the electrical lines carrying both wind and solar energy?
Maybe it’s all in somebody’s plans, but where are they?
